Fire and Gas Systems

Fortunately I have participated in almost every aspect from front-end specifications, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), commissioning, maintenance, programming, testing and upgrade of Fire and Gas Systems (FGS). I have worked with dedicated, proprietary FGS, and also with PLC and DCS based systems.

Design, specification and layout of fire or flame detectors, methane and H2S sensors, development of corrective and preventative maintenance and testing programmes.

While at Repsol, I pioneered three innovations: after integrating the PLC based FGS into the SCADA, I developed a management portal using Excel and the PI System, secondly I introduced e-mail notifications when FGS end detectors were placed in or removed from bypass, and thirdly I using the statistical tools in PI System to develop leading edge notifications for faulty sensors.

Experience

  • Successfully developed bid for Fire Alarm System for WASA Head Office in St. Joseph
  • Developed FGS maintenance programmes and procedures for sixteen offshore platforms with a mix of dedicated, and PLC based fire and gas detection, and suppression systems
  • Supported bpTT Greater Mahogany Operations team with incident management of offshore FGS
  • Integrated fourteen offshore PLC based FGS systems into SCADA and delivered presentation on success at OSISoft EMEA PI Conference
  • Conducted Virtual FAT and developed commissioning procedures for bpTT Cassia gas compression platform based on the Honeywell Safety Manager SIS.
