Measurement & Metering Systems

Enterprises must measure their productive output as a matter of survival. Electronic and automated measurement systems removes the headache as to “how much” was produced in a specified time period. The raw measurement data from the product meters has to be processed to meet whatever standard or mutually acceptable unit between parties.

The role of the engineer is to make sure that there are physical and procedural systems in place to assure the quality and accuracy of that the data that is being measured in real time or in batch. This data is then automatically sanitised and recorded in a historian for retrieval.

My Experience

  • Championed and resolved long standing natural gas custody transfer dispute between NGC and TCL
  • Lead campaign to bring Repsol TSP offshore oil & gas measurement systems to acceptable functionality: Agar flow computers & Red Eye water cut meters/ orifice / crude oil & water volumes
  • Worked with Emerson to develop mass coriolis system upgrades for legacy crude oil-water service orifice meters / Omni flow computers for Repsol shoreline meters
  • Teak A – Samaan A orifice – PLC natural gas (AGA 3) flow computer measurement system design, configuration and commissioning
  • Built cloud based oil production assurance pilot based on PI system Cloud Connect services
  • Developed and maintained MPMS 11.1 / AGA 3 flow measurement systems built on PLC logic, dedicated flow computers, and PI Historian / SCADA.

All accounted for?

I can assist your engineering team in developing specifications, aid in commissioning, charting a trajectory to standards compliance and performing audits of your measurement systems used for custody transfer / fiscalisation and control. System integration with your HMI or DCS / PLC, SCADA and historian.
